The craft research documentation was conducted over one month, with one week dedicated to secondary research, expert faculty lectures, and market visits. Knowledge-enriching lectures on ethnography and briefings on how to use digital software were conducted.
Library and market visits provided insights into the secondary data. The second week involved fieldwork at the cluster in Mahabalipuram. Observations were made, and interviews with artisans to understand the craft and their lifestyle took place.
The town of Mahabalipuram was also studied concerning people, weather, architecture, and the market for Aari. Videos and photos were taken to immortalise all parts of the documentation. The next two weeks were used to compile all the collected data into a formal document with constant changes and improvements with the help of faculty feedback.
